Through this interactive session, participants will:

  • Explore the latest research and developments in mental health.
  • Learn and reinforce the three key actions for supporting someone who may be feeling suicidal.
  • Work through complex mental health first aid scenarios.
  • Practise and enhance their mental health first aid skills in a safe learning environment.

The course content is grounded in best-practice guidelines, developed through expert consensus from individuals with lived experience of mental health challenges, alongside mental health professionals.

Delivery Method: Face-to-face session

Learning Hours: 1 day

Cost: £180 (including VAT)

Prerequisites: Participants must have attended a full MHFA Wales Classroom based or fullÌýÌýBlended (eLearning) course within the past 3 years in order to attend a Refresher. The MHFA Refresher course will extend the certification for a further 3 years.

Prerequisites: Adult Mental Health First Aid training must be completed.Ìý

 

The YMHFA course teaches adults how to assist adolescents who are developing any of the following mental health problems, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis:

Developing mental health problems

  • Depression
  • Anxiety problems
  • Eating disorders
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems

Mental health crises:

  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Non-suicidal self-injury
  • Panic attacks
  • Traumatic events
  • Severe psychotic states
  • Severe effects from alcohol or other drug use
  • Aggressive behaviours
